Maxwell Ryan by Apartment Therapy x Bemz
“There are only two ways to change a sofa, easily. One is to cover it – which Bemz already does. And the other is to change the legs. It sends a strong signal of both style and personality… I love the idea that we can hone in on the legs and make a statement there” Maxwell Ryan, CEO & Founder of Apartment Therapy.
From the moment that we have our first Ikea SÖDERHAMN couch I’ve always been interested in - and very inspired by - Swedish sofa cover producer Bemz. Regularly they shared the most beautiful inspiring images of their latest covers, often styled by top stylists and at that time when our children were smaller, having an extra cover for our couch was a real solution, especially if it was a very stylish one!
Bemz has now expanded their product range with a collection of furniture legs designed by Maxwell Ryan of Apartment Therapy, the New York-based media giant. The Maxwell Ryan x Bemz by Apartment Therapy collection features four different sofa legs, all with distinct architectural elements. The inspiration behind each sofa leg varies, paying vibrant homage to contemporary designers, prominent 20th century figures, and the boisterous Bibendum form. The idea is to completely transform the look of IKEA furniture
This collaboration is the second this year for Bemz, who joined forces with British designer Tom Dixon to create an exclusive collection of textile covers for IKEA’s DELAKTIG couch. The Maxwell Ryan collection is availabe to shop very soon and I am very curious to see what it will look like under our couch, it will be very original, that’s for sure don’t you think so?
